ABOUT JIM
Jim Mixson has served as Iredell County Clerk of Superior Court and Ex-officio Judge of Probate since 2012, bringing decades of experience in North Carolina’s judicial system. In this role, he oversees the integrity of every case filed in District and Superior Courts and presides over probate, guardianship, competency, foreclosure, adoption, and other judicial proceedings, while responsibly managing and safeguarding millions of dollars in court funds each year. He also directs the daily operations of the Clerk’s Office, supervising assistant and deputy clerks and ensuring efficient, professional constituent services.
Prior to his election as Clerk, Mixson built a long career in North Carolina Community Corrections, serving in a variety of supervisory and leadership roles focused on public safety, accountability, and rehabilitation.
A respected statewide leader, Mixson served as President of the North Carolina Conference of Clerks of Superior Court and continues to serve on key judicial, legislative, and advisory committees, including the North Carolina Sentencing and Policy Advisory Commission and the UNC School of Government Judicial College Advisory Committee.
Jim Mixson is married to his wife Kristi, and they are the proud parents of Addison and Jay.
